Bonnie Bride and Candy Fashion

Bonnie Bride by Deluxe Reading

Bonnie Bride was made in 1964 by Deluxe Reading, and basically looked just like a brunette Candy except she wasn’t jointed in the elbows and knees. She also had a lever in her back that activated her to throw flower bouquet attached to her right hand which was molded to hold the flowers. She also originally came with a platform that allowed the bride to “walk down the isle” on her own without the need for batteries. Made of plastic and vinyl.

My doll (pictured below) came in her original dress and shoes, but without the veil and the bouquet.

Lever in the back:

Most Bonnie Bride dolls I’ve seen on eBay, etc.. have unfortunately lost their original bouquets.

You can watch vintage black and white 60’s TV commercial for this doll on YouTube:

Here are some pictures of my Candy Fashion with Bonnie Bride enjoying spring in their homemade Easter dresses. You can see how similar the two dolls are, and because their bodies are built very similar, they can share one wardrobe.

In this picture, you can see the two Candies (vintage and repro) together with Bonnie Bride – my small 2012 Easter display.

(All Easter/spring dresses and vintage Candy's shoes in the pictures above were made by me.)
